GUBBIO, ITALY PHOTO TOUR
MAY 14-15, 2010
Photo Tours Italia festival tour series welcomes you to join us in a wonderful photographic journey to one of Italy's most famous Patron Saint festivals in the hill top city of Gubbio in the provence of Umbria. Every year on May 15th Gubbio's Corso dei Ceri - the race of the candles - features three teams of local men, called 'cerioli', that haul three large pillars (candles) up the hill to the Basilica St. Ubaldo to commemorate Gubbio's Patron Saint Ubaldo. The three large candles are made of wood and they represent St Ubaldo, St George and St. Anthony.
Gubbio, a medieval town of steep narrow streets in the mountainous corner of Umbria, is a photographic destination by itself. Let Photo Tours Italia guide you and your camera behind the scenes of this extraordinary event. Photograph the locals and the preparation for the race with professional photographers Adamo Morgese and William Shepley ,
Our tour includes transportation around Gubbio and surrounding countryside. We suggest accommodations and tips on the best local cuisine.
